RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1056

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Police Department and the Davidson County General Sessions Courts to enforce the Metropolitan Code provisions prohibiting excessive noise.

WHEREAS, neighborhoods are plagued with persons generating excessive noise, especially emanating from automobiles, and other amplified musical devices; and

WHEREAS, to discourage playing of loud noise form automobiles, radios, stereos, or other music amplification equipment, the excessive noise provisions of the Code should be vigorously enforced.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Police Department and the Davidson County General Sessions Court to enforce the Metropolitan Code provisions prohibiting excessive noise.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Chief of Police and to the Presiding Judge of the General Sessions Courts.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1056

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2002-1056 by renumbering Section 2. to become Section 3., and adding a new Section 2. as follows:

"Section 2. That the Chief of Police is further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1. hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution."
