RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1035

A resolution recognizing the designation of the Midtown area of Nashville, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, the Midtown Business Association, in order to promote business, especially restaurants and entertainment within the area, has adopted a boundary area to more closely designate the Midtown area of Nashville, Tennessee and

WHEREAS, this area of Nashville bordered generally on the north by West End Avenue, from 21st to 16th Avenues North, on the west by 21st Avenue South, on the south by Scarritt Place, and on the east by 19th Avenue South and Division Street, is a vital and growing area; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan County Council recognize the Midtown Business Association's efforts to promote growth and business in this area by designating this area as Midtown.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the designation of the Midtown area of Nashville, Tennessee. This area is more generally described by the boundaries as depicted on Attachment A.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the members of the Midtown Business Association.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
