RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1031

A resolution recognizing the Nashville School of the Arts Choir and their director Mr. Michael Graham for their outstanding success in the field of music.

WHEREAS, during the weekend of April 26, 2002, Mr. Michael Graham, music director at the Nashville School of the Arts, successfully directed the choir to numerous accolades at the Music in the Parks annual festival in New Orleans, Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville School of the Arts choir includes the Madrigal Singers, Concert Choir and the Early Music Consort, which is the only Early Music Consort in high school in the United States; and

WHEREAS, during the competition the Nashville School of the Arts Choir received superior scores in every category they competed and won best overall choir each time; and

WHEREAS, in receiving these scores, the members of the Nashville School of the Arts Choir brought great honor to their school, Davidson County, and the entire state of Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Michael Graham has used his love and knowledge of music to inspire his students to achieve the highest level of their abilities; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Nashville School of the Arts Choir for their continuing success under the leadership and direction of Mr. Michael Graham.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Nashville School of the Arts Choir and their director Mr. Michael Graham for their outstanding success in the field of music.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Michael Graham, music director on behalf of the entire Nashville School of the Arts Choir.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
