RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1023
A resolution honoring the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Whereas, the Tennessee Supreme Court is the state's highest court and the court of the last resort; and
Whereas, the Supreme Court is made up of five elected justices; and
Whereas, the Supreme Court hears appeals of civil and criminal cases from lower state courts; and
Whereas, the Supreme Court interprets the laws and Constitution of Tennessee and the Constitution of United States; and
Whereas, it is appropriate that the Metropolitan Council recognize the public service and dedication of the Tennessee Supreme Court to the law and the people of the State of Tennessee
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a resolution to be presented to each member of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
