RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1005
A resolution requesting the Metro Department of Finance to revise the pay system to provide for an every other week system for all employees of the Metropolitan Government.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government currently uses two different pay systems; and
WHEREAS, thousands of Metro employees are currently paid on a weekly basis; and
WHEREAS, the Metro Department of Finance wishes to adopt a single uniform pay system, like the Metro Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, a transition from a weekly system to a semi-monthly pay system places undue hardship on the moderate and lower paid employees of Metro Government; and
WHEREAS, an every other week pay system is fairer to employees and administratively more efficient and equitable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metro Department of Finance to revise the pay system to provide for an every other week system for all employees of the Metropolitan Government, including a substantial transitional financial package to assist the affected employees in these changes.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of Finance.
SECTION 3. That the Director of Finance is further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than thirty (30) days after the adoption of this Resolution.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
