RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-866

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to submit an application to the Environmental Protection Agency for a Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot grant application to assess brownfields sites and to test cleanup and redevelopment models.

WHEREAS, Metropolitan Nashville is in a position to prepare a competitive application for a grant under the Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot Program; and

WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency is accepting applications for the FY 2002 Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot Program; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency hereby accepts oversight and management responsibility of the grant funds; and,

WHEREAS, the application for a Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot grant is to be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency on or before December 10, 2001.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to submit an application for a FY 2002 Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot Grant through the Environmental Protection Agency, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency accepts oversight and management responsibility of the grant funds.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
