RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-840

A resolution recognizing Genesco's Cold Feet, Warm Shoes event.

WHEREAS, Genesco Inc. has been a member of the Nashville and Davidson County community since its founding in 1924; and

WHEREAS, the Company strives to improve the quality of life in the communities in which it works and lives; and

WHEREAS, the Metro Health Department claims foot problems caused in part by ill fitting or badly worn shoes is the number one ailment of the homeless population; and

WHEREAS, since the donation program was formally named Cold Feet, Warm Shoes in 1989, Genesco has donated over 35,000 shoes to the needy; and

WHEREAS, it is proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Genesco in its pursuit to help the needy in the Middle Tennessee Area.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITATN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Genesco's Cold Feet, Warm Shoes event as a prime example of the Company's ongoing mission to improve the quality of life in the communities, in which it works and lives.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing November 30, 2001 as Genesco's Cold Feet, Warm Shoes Day.

Section 3. The Metropolitan Council is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Genesco Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ben T. Harris.

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
