RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-839

A resolution declaring Nashville, Tennessee as a "friendly city" and encouraging the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Commission, the Nashville Downtown Partnership, The DISTRICT, and the Central Business Improvement District to promote Nashville as a "friendly city".

WHEREAS, by promoting Nashville, Tennessee as a "friendly city" and using this term when referring to Nashville, it could encourage tourism and promote a more hospitable environment for visitors to our city, and it is appropriate that the Metropolitan Council declare Nashville as a "friendly city".

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as declaring Nashville, Tennessee as a "friendly city" and encouraging the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Metropolitan Tourism Commission, the Nashville Downtown Partnership, The DISTRICT, and the Central Business Improvement District to promote Nashville as a "friendly city".

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Executive Director of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, to the members of the Metro Tourism Commission, to the director of the Nashville Visitors and Convention Bureau, to the director of the Nashville Downtown Partnership, to the director of The DISTRICT, to the director of the Central Business Improvement District, to the CEO of the Tennessee Restaurant Association, and to the CEO of the Nashville Hotel - Motel Association.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
