RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-805

A resolution recognizing the Bellevue Middle School Cheerleaders.

WHEREAS, the Bellevue Middle School Cheerleaders recently won two first place trophies at the UCA Cheers Camp held in Franklin; and

WHEREAS, it is widely recognized throughout their community that these cheerleaders play an integral part in generating and maintaining an atmosphere of excitement and support for their school; and

WHEREAS, under the guidance of Lisa Young, who recently marked her third year as co-sponsor and coach of the team, along with co-sponsor Suzie Gilliland, the Bellevue Middle School cheerleaders have proven themselves time and again as champions in competition, education, and civic spirit, and their impressive accomplishments are indeed worthy of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, the 2001 cheerleading squad included 8th graders Jessica Schulenberg, Co-Captain, Rachel Grantham, Lindsey Akerslott, Emily McBride, Emily Tudor, Erin Reed, Shannon Smith, and Ashley Thomas as well as 7th graders Jillian Fincher, Captain, Lindsey Dalton, Kiaya Carmona and Kayla Hargis; and

WHEREAS, in addition to their almost constant preparation and training for competition, these committed young women go out into the community to raise funds to pay for equipment, supplies and fees; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Bellevue Middle School cheerleaders and convey to the team and to their coaches best wishes for continued success.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Bellevue Middle School Cheerleaders.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the Coach and Co-Sponsor Lisa Young, Co-Sponsor Suzie Gilliland, and each member of the cheerleading squad.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
