RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-804

A resolution recognizing the 9 and 10-year-old Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team for 2001.

WHEREAS, this superlative team marched through their opponents in completing a successful season of softball competition by posting an impressive record of 10 wins and 2 losses that allowed "The Heat" to be named the 9-10 Girls Fast Pitch Softball season champions; and

WHEREAS, advancing to tournament play "The Heat" sizzled through their first game posting a dramatic win against Tom Kats 5-2 but came up short in the finale finishing as tournament runner-ups; and

WHEREAS, "The Heat" was led by Head Coach Dawn Thurley and Assistant Coaches, David Long and Gary Voynick; and

WHEREAS, members of the talented team are Hillary Craft, Jennifer Kleinrock, Morgan Lee, Rebekah Lemonds, Allison Long, Megan May, Bethany Oldham, Tiffany Orrand, Danielle Rucker, Hannah Shaw, Hannah Thurley, Ariel Voynick and Kelly Gentry; and

WHEREAS, this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its well deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality of its play, and the stiff competition which it presented to its opponents; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizing "The Heat" Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team for their sportsmanship, excellence in athletics and outstanding season.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 9 and 10-year-old Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team for 2001.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to each member of the team and their coaches.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
