A resolution recognizing Oral T. and Mildred Gentry Smith on their 50th wedding anniversary.

WHEREAS, a golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for a celebration and on Tuesday, August 2, 2001, Oral and Mildred Smith observed this significant milestone in their life together; and

WHEREAS, their celebration included a reception by their loving children on Saturday, August 18, 2001, with beloved family and friends; and

WHEREAS, the dedication, patience, wisdom, and understanding that they demonstrate on a daily basis has provided a firm foundation for both family and friends; and

WHEREAS, this devoted couple has shared the trails and triumphs of five decades together, their commitment, and unyielding strength is a source of inspiration; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Oral and Mildred Smith on this joyous occasion, and extend our very best wishes for continued health and happiness as they embark on their second 50-year journey; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record recognizing Oral T. and Mildred Gentry Smith on their 50th wedding anniversary.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Oral T. and Mildred Gentry Smith.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
