RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-794

A resolution appropriating grant funds received from the law enforcement block grant and corresponding required matching funds to a special revenue fund 30016 in accordance with the terms of the contract.

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government and the Metropolitan Council have under consideration for third and final reading the acceptance of a Law Enforcement Block Grant and matching funds by Bill No. BL2001-834; and

Whereas, a special interest bearing account, specifically designated for the Law Enforcement Block Grant, has been established in which to deposit grant funds and the required match; and

Whereas, grant funds will be awarded to the Metropolitan Police Department, the Office of the District Attorney General, the Sheriff's Office, Justice Information System, the Juvenile Court, the Public Defender's Office, State Trial Courts and Metropolitan Schools;

Whereas, grant funds need to be appropriated to department sub-accounts within Fund 30016 along with corresponding match dollars to be transferred from various department operating budgets, special revenue funds, or expended from the 4% Reserve Fund;

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant funds in the amount of Two Million six hundred four thousand three hundred and thirty-five dollars ($2,604,335) along with a match in the amount of one hundred twenty seven thousand nine hundred and forty nine dollars ($127,949) be appropriated to Fund 30016 in the following manner:

*The Metropolitan Police Department's match requirement is $95,636.15. They will utilize funds available in the 4% appropriation balance to cover their block grant match requirement.

**Represents match needed for the remainder of FY2002 not the total match required for the grant. Total match requirements for the Public Defender's Office and the District Attorney's Office are $5,331 and $33,233 respectively. In FY2003, the match for the Public Defender's Office will be $2,666 and the match for the District Attorney's Office will be $16,612. In FY2004, the match for the Public Defender's Office will be $666 and the match for the District Attorney's Office will be $4,153.

***The Metropolitan Sheriff's Department's match requirement is $41,689.23. They will utilize funds available in the 4% appropriation balance to cover their block grant match requirement.


Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government requiring it.
