RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-787

A resolution allowing the Metropolitan Board of Education to dispose of one surplus school bus by donating it to the Project Reflect Educational Program, an educational program to benefit disadvantaged students.

Whereas, Project Reflect Educational Program was developed by Mary Craighead, a retired Metro Schools principal, to provide educational support services for disadvantaged students; and

Whereas, the Project Reflect Educational Program serves students residing in the John Henry Hale, Preston Taylor, Sam Levy, Parkway Terrace and James A Casey public housing communities; and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Board of Education endorses the efforts of and provides additional support for the Project Reflect Educational Program; and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Board of Education currently has a school bus that is not in use and has been declared surplus; and,

Whereas, the Project Reflect Educational Program would benefit from the use of a bus to provide transportation to the tutorial program after school.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Board of Education has the authority to dispose of a school bus that is no longer of use to the Metropolitan School system and has therefore been declared surplus property by donating said bus to the Project Reflect Educational Program.

Section 2. That the Department of Law is directed to prepare the appropriate grant or contract as deemed necessary by the Director of Law and the Director of Finance to accomplish the purpose of this donation.
