RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-773

A resolution appropriating $1,000,000 in Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) repayments to the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency for Preston Taylor Homes.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency has received a $35 million HOPE VI grant from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the revitalization of the Preston Taylor Homes public housing development; and

WHEREAS, the objectives of the Preston Taylor HOPE VI program will be to link new housing construction to job training and other supportive services geared to permit public housing residents to become economically self-sufficient; and

WHEREAS, the UDAG monies will leverage funding from HUD, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, and MDHA as stated in the application for Hope VI funding.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That $1,000,000 in Urban Development Action Grant repayments be allocated to the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to be used for affordable housing development under the Preston Taylor Homes HOPE VI grant.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
