RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-731
A resolution recognizing Shirley F. Miller upon her retirement from service with The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service of Davidson County.
WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 30, 2001, Shirley F. Miller, Extension Agent of the Davidson County Agriculture Extension Service, retired after thirty-two years of faithful service to her colleagues, as well as the youth of Davidson County, the adults involved as leaders, donors and supporters; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Miller has been involved in 4-H almost all of her life joining the Rutherford County 4-H club at the age of ten, constantly involved since then as an active 4-H'er, as a volunteer leader in college, a donor and a 4-H agent here in Davidson County since August of 1969; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure Shirley Miller has received the "Distinguished Service" awards from the Tennessee Association of Extension 4-H Workers Association, National Association of Extension 4-H Agents, Tennessee Association of Home Economists, and the National Association of Home Economists; and
WHEREAS, some of her specific accomplishments include, past-president of the Tennessee Association of Extension 4-H Workers, Board of Directors of the Tennessee Agricultural Museum, member of the Nashville Area Agriculture Club, and charter member of the Tennessee 4-H Alumni Association; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Miller is to be commended for her timeless efforts and energy for the improvement of educational opportunities and experiences available to the youth in our county through the 4-H Program, and will sorely be missed not only as an Extension Agent but for her leadership in developing innovative programs; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Shirley F. Miller, on her retirement and for her dedication to The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service of Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Shirley F. Miller upon her retirement from service with The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service of Davidson County.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Extension Agent Shirley F. Miller.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
