RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-729

A resolution recognizing Donelson Unit 88 of the Tennessee American Legion Auxiliary.

WHEREAS, Donelson Unit 88 earned 22 of Tennessee American Legion Auxiliary's top honors for patriotic, civic, educational and organizational services in 2000-2001; and

WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary, was organized in 1919, by dedicated women of all ages working unselfishly together serving veterans, their families, children and our communities; and

WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary has one great purpose to contribute to the accomplishment of the aims and purposes of The American Legion; and

WHEREAS, today The American Legion Auxiliary is the world's largest women's patriotic service organization with over 12,000 Units located across the world; and

WHREAS, the members of Donelson Unit 88 carryout programs to foster responsible patriotism and citizenship, to honor and provide services for veterans and their families, to promote education and opportunity for children and youth and to support a variety of community services; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the 2000-2001 Donelson Unit 88 winners.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Donelson Unit 88 of the Tennessee American Legion Auxiliary.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Brenda Meade on behalf of all Donelson Unit 88 award winners.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
