A resolution approving an amendment to a grant between the United States Department of Treasury to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department under the GREAT cooperative agreement.

Whereas, the United States Department of Treasury has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department under the GREAT cooperative agreement in the operation of a gang prevention program known as Gang Resistant Education and Training and such grant was approved and accepted by The Metropolitan Council by ordinance (Bill No. BL2001-722); and,

Whereas, the parties, by mutual agreement, wish to amend the contract by amending the term of the agreement to July 31, 2001 through January 15, 2002 and increasing the funds by one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000);

Whereas, Bill No. 2001-722 provided that amendments to the Grant may be approved by Resolution by the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes;

Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government that this amendment to the contract be approved.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by The Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the amendment to the Grant by and between the United States Department of Treasury and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department, which amendment provides for amending the term of the agreement to July 31, 2001 through January 15, 2002 and increasing the funds by one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
