RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-707

A resolution requesting the Mayor, the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief to identify vehicles which they recommend should be equipped with video cameras, and provide an estimate of the cost to the Metropolitan Government.

WHEREAS, use of video equipment in emergency vehicles, especially traffic enforcement vehicles, police cars, and other police and fire vehicles, are beneficial in providing and protecting public safety; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor, the Director of Finance, the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief to identify vehicles which they recommend should be equipped with video cameras, and provide an estimate of the cost to the Metropolitan Government. Further, the Mayor, the Director of Finance, the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief should try to identify federal grant funds that may be available to assist in this endeavor.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor, the Chief of Police, and the Fire Chief.

SECTION 3. That the Mayor, the Chief of Police, and the Fire Chief are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than thirty (30) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
