RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-705

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Historical Commission to identify all historic buildings owned by the Metropolitan Government, and other significant historic sites, and provide the Metropolitan Council with information relative to the current state of repair and presence of historical markers.

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that historical buildings owned by the Metropolitan Government, and other significant historic sites, be maintained in a satisfactory state and be sufficiently marked as historical sites.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Historical Commission to identify all historic buildings owned by the Metropolitan Government, and other significant historic sites, and provide the Metropolitan Council with information relative to the current state of repair and presence of historical markers.

Further, to the extent feasible, that the Metro Historical Commission provide the Metro Council with the estimated cost of repairs for these buildings and sites, and the cost to adequately identify or mark these sites.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Executive Director of the Historical Commission and to each member of the Historical Commission.

SECTION 3. That the Executive Director of the Historical Commission and the Historical Commission members are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
