RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-704
A resolution requesting the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers to amend its present federal regulations to allow leasing of property for local public school facilities.
WHEREAS, presently, the J. Percy Priest Reservoir property administered by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers can be used only for recreational purposes; and
WHEREAS, currently, federal regulations permit the Corps of Engineers to lease such property to private persons to promote recreational activities; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to allow such excess property to be leased to the Metropolitan Government to site a public school.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers to amend its present federal regulations to allow leasing of property for local public school facilities.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the U. S. Corps of Engineers, to Senators Thomas Frist and Fred Thompson, and to Congressman Bob Clement.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
