RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-703
A resolution proclaiming
the weekend of August 24th through August 26th, 2001, as the first annual "Mix
92.9 Radiothon" for Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
WHEREAS, this event will benefit Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, a non-profit
organization, by increasing the awareness of services they provide, and raise
money to continue their great work; and
WHEREAS, a unique part of this weekends radiothon was the "Change Bandit"
event, which encourages people to give their loose change to the children's
hospital; and
WHEREAS, during this fund-raising radiothon, Mix 92.9 in cooperation with Vanderbilt
Children's Hospital, which services an area that includes Middle Tennessee,
South Central Kentucky, and some areas of North Alabama, and will give the public
an opportunity to learn more about the medical center and how it helps sick
and injured children from premature infants to 18-year olds; and
WHEREAS, not only will Mix 92.9 be broadcasting live from Cool Springs Galleria
during this three day event with various celebrities dropping by to lend their
support, but from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where we will interview the
doctors, nurses and patients about the hospital and the care they provide; and
WHEREAS, at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, the doctors, nurses and staff dedicate
their education and their careers in the specialized field and care of our young
patients; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize radio
station Mix 92.9 for their radiothon efforts in supporting our very own local
children's hospital.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT
OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as proclaiming the
weekend of August 24th through August 26th, 2001, as the first annual "Mix
92.9 Radiothon" for Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy
of this Resolution to be presented to Mix 92.9's Programming Director Barbara
Bridges and Rosie Boyd of the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the
welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring
it.
