RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-692

A resolution requesting the Director of Public Property Administration to introduce for adoption appropriate legislation to condemn the property located at the corner of Second Avenue and Union Street, adjacent to the Stahlman Building.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is undertaking a project to redevelop the Stahlman Building; and

WHEREAS, other attempts to renovate the Stahlman Building have indicated the necessity of owning the adjacent property which presently serves as a parking lot and has height restrictions; and

WHEREAS, to benefit the redevelopment of the Stahlman Building, it would be appropriate to consolidate the existing adjacent tract with the Stahlman Building project.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Director of Public Property Administration to introduce for adoption appropriate legislation to condemn the property located at the corner of Second Avenue North and Union Street, adjacent to the Stahlman Building.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of Public Property Administration and to the Director of Finance.

SECTION 3. That the Director of Public Property Administration and the Director of Finance are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
