A resolution expressing the intent of the Metropolitan Council to provide funding to Nashville Public Television on behalf of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education in the operating budget for fiscal year 2002-2003.

WHEREAS, the operating budget submitted by the Mayor for fiscal year 2002-2003 proposed a contribution to Nashville Public Television in the amount of $4,409,841; and

WHEREAS, the substitute budget adopted by the Council provided funding for this contribution in the amount of $2,050,229; and

WHEREAS, the contract between Nashville Public Television and the Metropolitan Board of Public Education provided for funding for fiscal year 2002-03 in the amount of $1,278,596, and the amount of $1,081,016 in fiscal year 2003-2004; and

WEHREAS, the Metropolitan Council wishes to go on record in announcing its intention to provide this funding in the operating budget adopted for fiscal year 2002-2003.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as expressing its intent to provide funding to Nashville Public Television on behalf of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education in the operating budget for fiscal year 2002-2003.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the members of the Board of Directors of Nashville Public Television and to the Board of Public Education.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
