RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-675

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Public Works Department to restore chipper service to a routed schedule.

WHEREAS, the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County pay their fair share of property taxes in order to receive specific services from the government, including county-wide chipper service; and

WHEREAS, the Metro Public Works Department is expected to provide dependable and responsive chipper service to all citizens on a regular and reliable basis, with emergency storm response and clean-up as needed; and

WHEREAS, the recently enacted appointment basis whereby citizens are required to call and request chipper service has caused a great deal of confusion and frustration to many citizens; and

WHEREAS, chipper service that is provided on a published, routed schedule is more fuel efficient and will enable citizens to plan lawn maintenance work accordingly; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Public Works Department provide for a county-wide chipper service that is effective and dependable for the citizens of Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Public Works Department to restore county-wide chipper service to a routed schedule.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Metro Public Works Director and to the Metro Solid Waste Director.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
