A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to submit an application to the Tennessee Department of Transportation for a Transportation Enhancement Program grant for proposed streetscape enhancements along Nolensville Road between Interstate 440 and Thompson Lane.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency has been meeting for more than one year with the merchants and property owners along Nolensville Road between Interstate 440 and Thompson Lane in the Woodbine Neighborhood Strategy Area; and

WHEREAS, the Woodbine Masterplan and Streetscape Design has now been prepared; and

WHEREAS, matching funds are available from Community Development Block Grant Funds and other sources; and

WHEREAS, Metropolitan Nashville is in a position to submit an application for a grant to carry out improvements described in the Woodbine Master Plan and Streetscape Design; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted; and

WHEREAS, the application for a Transportation Enhancement Program grant is to be submitted to the Tennessee Department of Transportation on or before July 1, 2001.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to submit an application for a FY 2002 Transportation Enhancement Program Grant in the amount of $1,105,300 through the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is hereby authorized to prepare and administer the Transportation Enhancement Program Grant.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
