RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-644
A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to support the adoption of legislation that would increase the income level of the local tax relief program to $15,000.
WHEREAS, two separate legislative proposals have been introduced into the Tennessee General Assembly which would increase the income level for the local tax relief program to $15,000 per year; and
WHEREAS, House Bill No. 1031 and companion Senate Bill No. 750, and House Bill No. 4162 and companion Senate Bill No. 909 would each increase this maximum funding level; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government participates in this program to afford tax relief to qualified elderly and disabled property owners; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that this income level be increased.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to support legislation that would increase the income level of the local tax relief program to $15,000 per year.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
