RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-643

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to create a capital needs committee for public schools.

WHEREAS, it would be appropriate for the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to create a standing committee to address capital needs for public schools in the public school system.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan Board of Public Education is hereby requested to create a capital needs committee for public schools.

SECTION 2. The Council further requests that members of this committee should not only represent the Board of Public Education, but the Metropolitan Council and the Office of the Mayor. This committee should be staffed by professional staff of both the Board of Public Education and the Metro Planning Commission.

SECTION 3. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor, the Director of Schools, and to the Board of Public Education.

SECTION 4. That the Board of Public Education is further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 5. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-643

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2001-643 by adding the following provision to Section 2 thereof:

"Any report of this committee should be furnished to the members of the Metropolitan Council."
