RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-635

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claims of Renika Montgomery, Quanita Hayes, Shanielle Black, and Elyse Young against the Metropolitan Government for $9,950.00 plus court costs.

WHEREAS on April 3, 1998, Renika Montgomery, Quanita Hayes, Shanielle Black, and Elyse Young were allegedly injured while in an automobile accident involving Metropoli-tan Police Officer Burl Johnson, Jr., and
WHEREAS, a suit was filed by Renika Montgomery, Quanita Hayes, Shanielle Black, and Elyse Young in the Circuit Court in Davidson County, Tennessee (case number 99C-930) for the injuries allegedly sustained during this accident, and
WHEREAS, after investigation, the Department of Law believes the settlement referenced in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and recommends that the amount be paid from the Self Insured Liability Account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METRO-POLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1: The Department of Law is authorized to settle the case of John Montgomery, et. al v. Metropolitan Government, case number 99C-930 in the Circuit Court for Davidson County, Tennessee, for $9,950.00 plus court costs accrued to the date of the offer, and, if the offer is accepted, said amounts should be paid from the Self Insured Liability Account.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
