RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-629

A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact necessary legislation to enable the Metropolitan Government to rebate up to $500.00 of property taxes to homeowners who install more energy efficient HVAC systems.

WHEREAS, as energy costs are rising it is in the best interests of the residents of Davidson County to have more energy efficient methods and systems of heating and cooling homes; and

WHEREAS, in order to encourage installation of more energy efficient systems, it is fitting and proper that to recoup part of the cost, that such homeowners be allowed to receive a rebate of up to $500.00 in property taxes.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact necessary legislation to enable the Metropolitan Government to rebate up to $500.00 of property taxes to homeowners who install more energy efficient HVAC systems.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the each member of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
