RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-628
A resolution authorizing the Department of Law to compromise and settle the lawsuit of Steven Lankford against The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in the amount of $45,000.00.
Whereas, plaintiff, Steven
Lankford, was injured as a result of a truck driven by another Metro employee
which hit electrical wires and caused an explosion; and
Whereas, plaintiff was injured while trying to escape the explosion; and
Whereas, Steven Lankford has endured bodily injury, pain and suffering, and
lost wages as a result of said incident; and
Whereas, the Metropolitan Department of Law believes that a settlement of forty-five
thousand dollars ($45,000.00) is a fair and reasonable settlement and recommends
that this claim be compromised and settled.
Now therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government
of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1: That the Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise
and settle the lawsuit of Steven Lankford against the Metropolitan Government
for the amount of forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000.00) and that said amounts
should be paid from the Self-Insured Liability Fund.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the
welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring
it.
