RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-609

A resolution recognizing Junior L. High upon his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Public School System.

WHEREAS, on Friday, June 1, 2001, Mr. Junior L. High, principal, will retire after 31 years of dedicated and faithful service to education; and

WHEREAS, Junior L. High served as principal at Hattie Cotton Elementary for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, during his educational career he also was a classroom teacher for 11 years, consultant for one year, an Assistant Principal for two years at Cole Annex, Principal at both Fehr and McGavock and a GED teacher at Nashville Tech for over 22 years; and

WHEREAS, Principal High, spearheaded the implementation of the School Wide Title I Program, Reading Renaissance, 21st Century School Wide Technology Grant, Toyota Family Literacy Grant, Eskind Principals Grants, School Wide "Hands on Science" and numerous other projects; and

WHEREAS, the talents and skills that Mr. High has exhibited throughout his years in education will be deeply missed, but his love for family and church can assure all that his retirement years will be fulfilling; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Principal Junior L. High for his outstanding service to Hattie Cotton Elementary School, and extend to him sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the years to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Junior L. High upon his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Public School System.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Principal Junior L. High.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
