RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-607
A resolution recognizing June 9, 2001, as "WorshipCity USA Day" in Nashville.
WHEREAS, on June 9, 2001, WorshipCityPraise will celebrate with prayer, fasting and worship on the hill below the State Capital Building in downtown Nashville to celebrate the unity of faith in Nashville, and to mark the one-year anniversary of the Billy Graham Crusade; and
WHEREAS, WorshipCityPraise is a faith based ministry whose purpose is to gather people of all races, ages, denominations and backgrounds in Nashville to seek transformation of our nation, city and surrounding areas through worship, spiritual healings and prayer; and
WHEREAS, not only does WorshipCityPraise meet monthly at various churches around Nashville, ministering to various communities, but they meet monthly with church and government leaders in a gathering called Worship City Prayer; and
WHEREAS, WorshipCityPraise is organized in cooperation with a local coalition, Nashville Bridges; and
WHEREAS, WorshipCityPraise (formerly SONICPRAISe) was started in March of 1999, by worship leader Jeff Deyo and others; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize WorshipCity Praise for their goal in spreading the word.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the SECOND Saturday of June each year (starting June 9, 2001), as "WorshipCity USA Day" in Nashville.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Jeff Deyo and Mr. Jim Freedman on behalf of WorshipCityPraise and Nashville Bridges Coalition.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
