RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-603
A resolution recognizing the Davidson County Drug Court Program.
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, the Davidson County Drug Court Program graduated their 100th and 101st offender; and
WHEREAS, the Davidson County Drug Court Program began in Davidson County in May of 1997, as a diversionary program that provides for the supervision of non-violent offenders with substance abuse problems; and
WHEREAS, this program offers educational, intensive treatment and other integrated services so that with these tools, offenders will possess the ability to become productive members of the community; and
WHEREAS, the program takes a minimum of 1 year to complete with an average length of stay of 18 months that involves progression through either of two programs: an Intensive Outpatient program or Residential Treatment program; and
WHEREAS, currently the Davidson County Drug Court Judge is the Honorable Seth Norman; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Davidson County Drug Court Program on there continued success in Nashville Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Davidson County Drug Court Program.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to President and the Honorable Judge Norman on behalf of the Davidson County Drug Program.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
