RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-600

A resolution recognizing Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson.

WHEREAS, Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson was born October 15, 1986, attended Early Learning Day Care, King's Lane Elementary, Gramar Elementary, Ewing Park Middle School and now is a freshman at Whites Creek High School; and

WHEREAS, Lauren has always been an average to above average student, she became a majorette for Whites Creek's band, is active in modeling, girl scouts, drama and attended summer activities at Hartman Park and Tennessee State University; and

WHEREAS, Lauren has achieved many accomplishments, awarded "Best Runway Model" for Barbizon School of modeling, attended "Growing in Grace" a Leadership for Young People, and an active member of Girl Scout Troop 201; and

WHEREAS, she has been top cookie seller in 1993, 1994, 1995 with over 1,000 boxes of cookies, in 1996 and1997 - 1,200 boxes, 1998 - 1,400 boxes, 1999 - 1,500 boxes, 2000 - 1,600 and her goal was to sell 2001 boxes of cookies this year, but only sold 1,800; and

WHEREAS, not only is she very active within her Scout Troop visiting nursery homes, cleanup neighborhoods, volunteers at the YMCA Daycare and other good deeds in the community, but is a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, helping with the nursery school for children and in youth groups; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson for her hard work and dedication to the community

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Miss Lauren Elise Briggance Simpson.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
