RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-598
A resolution recognizing Pastor Doug Westmoreland for his 26 years of service at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church.
WHEREAS, on Sunday, June 3, 2001, Pastor Doug Westmoreland, will celebrate this joyous occasion with family, friends and members of his congregation; and
WHEREAS, in 1975, he brought his ministry to Tusculum Hills Baptist Church were he continues to serve today; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Westmoreland received his license to preach in 1960, and was Ordained as a minister in 1961 at Richmond Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, currently under the leadership of Pastor Westmoreland, Tusculum Hills became a debt-free church, under his continuing motto "God's Not Thru With Us Yet"; and
WHEREAS, today the congregation of Tusculum Hills Baptist Church has grown to over 3,637 faithful and dedicated members; and
WHEREAS, since Pastor Westmoreland became pastor Tusculum Hills Baptist Church has gone through four major building projects: a new sanctuary, a satellite church in Nolensville, Tennessee - Stonebrook Chapel, a new office complex with educational space, a Family Life Center, a new education building and two adjoining parking lots; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Pastor Westmoreland is active in state and associational work, serves as a Trustee for Belmont University, and served on the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention for eight years; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Pastor Doug Westmoreland for his work in making a small country church to one of the largest Baptist churches in the Association.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Pastor Doug Westmoreland for his 26 years of service at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Pastor Doug Westmoreland.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
