RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-597

A resolution recognizing Aquinas Head Basketball Coach Charles Murray Anderson.

WHEREAS, in March of 2001, Coach Charlie Anderson's 19 years of faithful and dedicated service as Aquinas' basketball coach ended with a record of 22 wins and 6 losses; and

WHEREAS, in 1981, Coach Anderson brought his leadership, skills and energy to become Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Aquinas College; and

WHEREAS, not only did Coach Anderson coach at the high school level for 22 years, but also spoke and conducted numerous basketball clinics each summer; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure in basketball Coach Anderson has achieved over 400 wins at the High School and Junior College level, accumulated a combined record during his basketball career of 860 wins and 311 losses, and has won numerous championships at all levels including the National Junior College Championship in 1991; and

WHEREAS, many of his talented players have gone on to the collegiate level to continue their basketball athletics; and

WHEREAS, Coach Charles Murray Anderson's specific accolades include National Coach of the Year in 1991, inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 1994, and inducted into the Tennessee Junior College Hall of Fame in 1992; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Charles Murray Anderson on his outstanding contributions to the sport of basketball.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Aquinas Head Basketball Coach Charles Murray Anderson.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Coach Charles Murray Anderson.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
