RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-580

A resolution requesting the Tennessee Department of Health and the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to develop state-wide criteria for methadone clinics.

WHEREAS, locations of methadone clinics create numerous concerns in community around the State of Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, these concerns are especially increased when methadone clinics are located close to schools, churches, parks, playgrounds, and residential areas; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that there be enacted state-wide regulations relating to health, safety and public welfare by restricting the location of methadone clinics.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee State Department of Health and the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to develop state-wide criteria for methadone clinics.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the Tennessee State Department of Health and to the members of the Davidson County Delegation.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
