RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-564
A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to take steps to increase enrollment of minority students at magnet schools.
WHEREAS, magnet schools are operated by the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, in an attempt to improve the quality of education provided for the students in Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, it is important that in providing improved public education that all students have the opportunity to have access to such schools.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to take steps to increase enrollment of minority students at magnet schools.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to the Director of Schools and to each member of the Board of Public Education.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
