RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-560

A resolution requesting the Frist Visual Arts Center and the United States Post Office to provide mail collection at the front of the Frist Center on Broadway on April 15th for federal income tax filing.


WHEREAS, it has been traditional in Nashville for many years that on April 15th, especially in the late evenings and up until midnight, for Nashvillians to drive by the front of the old Post Office on Broadway to mail federal income tax returns; and

WHEREAS, it was reported, during the discussions before the Council on the development of the old Post Office building as the new Frist Visual Arts Center, that this tradition would be accomplished and continued; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that steps be taken to assure the continuance of this fine Nashville tradition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Frist Visual Arts Center and the United States Post Office to provide mail collection at the front of the Frist Visual Arts Center on Broadway on April 15th for federal income tax filing.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to the appropriate representative of the Frist Visual Arts Center and the United States Post Office.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
