RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-557

A Resolution declaring "Doctors Day" in Metro Nashville.

WHEREAS, the health of a community is its most previous asset, and one that must always be guarded and protected from harm; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Nashville Academy of Medicine, Tennessee's oldest and largest medical society, work tirelessly to maintain and improve the level of health enjoyed by the community; and

WHEREAS, Nashville's physicians have historically upheld the highest ethical and medical standards and, through the Nashville Academy of Medicine, Nashville physicians have consistently maintain oversight of the professionalism and integrity of colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Nashville's physicians are among the most dedicated members of our community, spending many years training to their profession and working around the clock caring for the ill and injured; and

WHEREAS, Nashville is a national center of healthcare and home to two nationally renowned medical schools.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT REOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby acknowledges the dedication, courage and tireless devotion of Nashville's medical community with this proclamation to all Nashville declaring "Doctors Day" in Metro Nashville.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution be presented to the Nashville Academy of Medicine.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
