RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-545

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to provide sufficient information on the back of school buses to allow the public to report violations or unsafe operations by drivers.

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that school buses owned by the Metropolitan Board of Public Education have on the back of such buses a telephone number and identifying school bus number that can be read by the public in order to report to the appropriate persons in the Board of Education when a bus has committed a traffic violation or that the bus is being operated in an unsafe manner; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to require that all school buses owned by the Board of Education have information on the back of each bus that provides a telephone number for persons to call to report safety and operator violations, and that each bus have displayed an identifying school bus number.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
