RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-542
A resolution requesting the Tennessee State Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Department of Public Works to make safety improvements to Briley Parkway.
WHEREAS, the portion of Briley Parkway between Interstate 40 and the Opryland complex is a much traveled highway segment in the area of the Metropolitan Government; and
WHEREAS, this segment is in need of medians or other appropriate barriers between the traffic lanes, as this highway has been the location of several serious accidents; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to ask the Tennessee State Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Department of Public Works to make safety improvements on this very dangerous portion of Briley Parkway.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee State Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Department of Public Works to make safety improvements to Briley Parkway.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the Tennessee State Department of Transportation and to the Director of the Metropolitan Department of Public Works.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
