A resolution recognizing those firefighters who ended their distinguished careers by retiring from the Metropolitan Fire Department on January 1, 2001, after serving the City of Nashville.

WHEREAS, on Thursday, January 1, 2001, the following firefighters retired from the Metropolitan Fire Department of Nashville Davidson County after a long and sterling tenure in the firefighting profession that have earned them respect and admiration of colleagues, employees and family; and

WHEREAS, these dedicated, courageous and devoted public servants diligently risked their lives on a daily basis for the betterment of this community by serving passionately as defender of life and property and their commitment to the dangerous but vital occupation of firefighting that was equal by few and surpassed by none; and

WHEREAS, the following firefighters are well deserving of this recognition and have served the Metropolitan Fire Department for many years; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize each firefighter who retired on January 1, 2001, for the job they have done over their many years of faithful service to the citizens of Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing those firefighters who ended their distinguished careers by retiring from the Metropolitan Fire Department on January 1, 2001, after serving the City of Nashville.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to each firefighter whose retirement date is January 1, 2001.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
