A resolution recognizing Kreis R. White, on receiving the Joseph G. Cummings, Sr. Pro Bono "Volunteer of the Year Award" for 2000.

WHEREAS, at the annual meeting in December of 2000, Nashville Pro Bono Program's 2000 Board of Directors Chairman, Tony Saunders, announced the winner of the 2000 Joseph G. Cummings, Sr. Pro Bono "Volunteer of the Year Award" recipient as Kreis R. White; and

WHEREAS, Mr. White was chosen as this years recipient from over 900 lawyers who volunteered for the Nashville Pro Bono Program that was created in 1982; which he has been active in since its inception; and

WHEREAS, it's tradition of the Nashville Bar Association to recognize an attorney each year for their pro bono service and this year Mr. White exemplified the cumulative characteristics that are at the heart of this program, an enthusiastic and consistent willingness to accept numerous cases when called upon; and

WHEREAS, Mr. White, is a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law, and is a partner with the firm of Adair, Schuerman & White as a certified specialist in civil trial advocacy; and

WHEREAS, Mr. White has accepted approximately 60 different Pro Bono cases referred to him through the Program and has spent over 200 hours preparing and for this cases; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Kreis R. White for his time and dedication in providing legal services to those who cannot afford them.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Kreis R. White, on receiving the 00 Joseph G. Cummings, Sr. Pro Bono "Volunteer of the Year Award" for 2000.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Kreis R. White.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
