RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-528

A resolution recognizing H. Houston Hagar on his 50 years of outstanding, loyal and dedicated years of legal experience.


WHEREAS, H. Houston Hagar, a highly respected attorney, began practicing law in 1950, after receiving his law degree from the YMCA Law School, and is indeed deserving of special recognition for his noteworthy career; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hagar began his career in law by serving seven years with the Law Department of the old Nashville-Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway, sixteen years with USF&G, eighteen years with the firm of Alexander & Alexander, Inc., before beginning his private civil practice in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hager, served as a member of the Metropolitan Council for ten years, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Juvenile Court Judge Robert Jenkins; and

WHEREAS, drawing on his education and experience to benefit his fellow Tennesseans, H. Houston Hagar exemplifies the traits of integrity and commitment as a public servant in representing Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, noted for his wisdom, his expertise in the field of law, and his humility, H. Houston Hagar is an exemplary gentleman who has distinguished himself in his profession; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize H. Houston Hager for his contributions to the public image of the legal profession in Tennessee while earning the lasting respect and admiration of all who know him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing H. Houston Hagar on his 50 years of outstanding, loyal and dedicated years of legal experience.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to H. Houston Hagar.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
