RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-513

A resolution requesting the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Tennessee Regulatory Authority to investigate the recent dramatic increase in natural gas prices.

WHEREAS, wholesale gas prices have apparently increased approximately 400% during winter months of this year, resulting in dramatic price increases at the consumer level, causing economic hardship upon the residents of Metropolitan Government; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Tennessee Regulatory Authority investigate this dramatic increase in natural gas prices and to take necessary action to assure that such crisis does not reoccur.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Tennessee Regulatory Authority to investigate the recent dramatic increase in natural gas prices.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Tennessee Regulatory Authority.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
