RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-511
A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to support the adoption of additional criminal laws relating to child pornography.
WHEREAS, it appears that pornographic pictures of children are being altered by superimposing adult faces upon the pictures to escape prosecution under Tennessee law that prohibits child pornography; and
WHEREAS, legislation is being introduced that would outlaw possession of pornography of children when adult faces are superimposed upon pictures of children, and when children's faces are superimposed upon pictures of adults; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of this legislation would protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens in the area of the Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to support the adoption of additional criminal laws relating to child pornography.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
