RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-94
A resolution honoring Jay West.
WHEREAS, Jay West was elected as a member of the Metropolitan Council At-Large in 1983, and subsequently was re-elected for two successive terms;
WHEREAS, Mr. West, son of the first Metropolitan County Mayor Ben West, was elected Vice Mayor of the Metropolitan County Council in 1995; and
WHEREAS, both as a member of the Metropolitan County Council and as Vice Mayor, Jay West served with distinction and exhibited leadership qualities that resulted in the adoption of significant improvements in the area of the Metropolitan Government in public safety, public education, dramatic increases in recreational opportunities, in professional sports, and economic development;
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that Jay West be recognized for his contributions as a public servant for the citizens and residents of the Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Jay West for his dedicated public service to the residents and citizens of the Metropolitan Government, both as a member of the Metropolitan County Council and as Vice Mayor.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is hereby directed to prepare a hand-lettered scroll to be presented to Jay West.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
