RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-447
A resolution requesting the Mayor to consider acquiring and renovating the historic Union Station train shed located in the Gulch area in downtown Nashville.
WHEREAS, after several years of efforts to save and restore the historic Union Station
train shed in the Gulch area of downtown Nashville, it appears that private developers
have been unable to restore this facility; and
WHEREAS, it appears that unless steps are taken to restore the shed, it may be necessary to remove this historic facility; and
WHEREAS, if it is to be saved, it may be necessary for the Metropolitan Government to acquire this facility and to restore it.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor to consider acquiring and renovating the historic Union Station train shed in the Gulch area of downtown Nashville.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
