RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-421

A resolution approving a contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, and Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, Inc., permitting Matthew Walker to pay $156,636.00 to the Board of Health to conduct and supervise telephone surveys and managing the data obtained to assist Matthew Walker in its study to reduce cardiovascular disease and diabetes among African Americans.

Whereas, Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, Inc. is involved in developing a plan to help reduce cardiovascular disease and diabetes among African Americans; and,

Whereas, the Health Department employees will conduct and be responsible for supervising telephone surveys and then managing the data obtained; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this contract be approved.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, and Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, Inc., to provide to the Board of Health the sum of $156,636.00 to conduct and supervise telephone surveys and managing the data obtained, and for a term beginning on September 30, 2000 and extending through September 30, 2001, which contract is attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution, be and the same is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
